Their story
Simran's family has lived in Amritsar for four generations, so the brief was clear: tradition first, and a party that does not end before the dhol players do.
The jaggo and the sangeet
The night before the wedding, the family carried a lit jaggo through the lanes around the house, followed by a bonfire sangeet on the farmhouse lawn with live bhangra, makki di roti counters and a surprise performance from the groom's college friends.
The Anand Karaj
We worked closely with the gurdwara committee on timings, langar and seating, ran shuttle buses from six hotels for the early start, and kept a quiet team ready with shawls for the November morning chill.
The reception
The reception was designed around the phulkari dupattas of Simran's grandmother, framed and lit along the entrance walkway. The menu moved from Amritsari kulchas to a dessert bar of pinni and jalebi.
Our families had very strong opinions. The team listened to every single one, and it still felt like our wedding.
