Their story
Riya grew up in Kolkata and fell for Jaipur on a college trip. She wanted every Bengali ritual intact, set in the pink city that had stayed with her ever since.
Bengali rituals, Rajasthani setting
The gaye holud filled the haveli's central courtyard with turmeric, conch shells and a dhaak player who travelled from Kolkata for the day. At the wedding, the shubho drishti took place beneath carved jharokhas strung with tuberose and marigold.
A menu with two hometowns
We paired a Bengali chef with a Rajasthani halwai, so dinner moved from kosha mangsho and luchi to laal maas and ghevar, with mishti doi in clay pots on every table.
Our two hometowns met in one courtyard. Every Bengali aunty and every Jaipur friend went home happy, and that never happens.
